Pinhole gum rejuvenation

A revolutionary new way of addressing gum recession and bring back your confident smile, Pinhole Surgery Technique is a minimally invasive treatment option to reverse gingival recession without grafting or extensive sutures.

What is receding gums?

Gum recession is when the margin of the gum tissue surrounding the teeth wears away, or pulls back, exposing more of the tooth, or the tooth`s root. When gums recede, gaps can form between the gum and tooth, allowing disease-causing bacteria to build up. If left untreated, the surrounding tissue and bone structures of the teeth can be damaged, sometimes resulting in tooth loss. Receding gums is a widespread dental condition. Most people are not aware that they have receding gums since it occurs gradually.

How to treat receding gums?

The Pinhole Surgery Technique, also known as Pinhole Gum Rejuvenation, is a scalpel-free, most of the times suture-free, graft-free procedure for correcting gum recession and saving teeth, invented by John Chao (D.D.S.). Pinhole surgery is a minimally invasive type of gum surgery which does not require any incisions and usually no sutures. Instead, a small instrument is used to make a tiny pinhole sized (0.1 inch) entry point in the tissue. Then a special instrument is inserted and used to gently loosen the tissue so that it can be pulled over the exposed tooth. Since no incisions are being made, side effects such as pain, bleeding and swelling are kept to a minimum. Additionally, patients will notice an instant improvement in the appearance of their smile after gum recession treatment.

What are the benefits of the Receding Gums Treatment?

Pinhole surgery gives patients several benefits. These benefits include:

  • No Incisions– Since this is not a tissue graft, there is no need to cut or remove any part of the gums or from the patient’s palate;
  • No extensive Sutures – Tissue is usually held in place with collagen strips, rather than extensive sutures that need healing. Faster recovery for the patient than traditional grafting (occasionally stabilizing sutures are necessary);
  • Minimal Pain – Patients will experience only minimal pain, swelling, or bleeding after the gum surgery;
  • Instant Results– produces an instantly noticeable cosmetic improvement. The tiny entry point is barely apparent and can disappear as soon as the next day. Excellent, natural-looking, long-lasting results;
  • Efficiency– It is possible to correct up to 14 teeth at once in one to two hours;
